Master’s in Health

A 24-month, 1,200-hour program designed to develop advanced skills in health management, public health, and teaching, with a focus on human physiology and epidemiology. Delivered through distance learning, it offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theory, research, and practical application for health professionals.

About the Program

The Master’s Program in Health aims to stimulate knowledge production in the field of Health Sciences, as well as to train individuals capable of having autonomy and independence in the academic and scientific fields. The overall objective of the Program is to train professionals capable of developing research projects and public health programs based on the state of the art in scientific knowledge. The goal is to provide tools to understand the health-disease process, analyze the obtained results, and develop policies to intervene in the lives of communities. The Program focuses on training health professionals, researchers, and public health educators.

Graduates from the Master’s in Health should:

a) Identify problems that affect the health and well-being of populations;
b) Conduct original and innovative research projects that enable the advancement of scientific knowledge;
c) Define, establish, and manage programs and public policies that promote scientific progress in the field of public health and contribute to a better quality of life for the population.

Areas of Concentration

  • Health Sciences and Human Physiology.

    The project aims to develop basic and clinical research in various areas of health and to train qualified human resources for higher education teaching, research, and to meet the professional demand of public and private sectors.

Research Lines

The program is structured around four distinct research lines:

I – Public Health (Epidemiology)
Focuses on professionals interested in developing research projects and public health programs based on the state of the art in scientific knowledge. The aim is to create tools to understand the health-disease process, analyze the results obtained, and formulate policies to intervene in the lives of communities.

II – Nutrition in Public Health
Aims at training human resources for teaching and research, both basic/experimental and applied, as well as for work in public policies on food and nutrition. It studies the complex causality of nutritional problems interpreted by political, socio-economic, and environmental factors that themselves require new approaches beyond the classical biological approach.

III – Chronic Health Conditions Research
Focuses on researchers interested in epidemiological, preclinical, and clinical studies aimed at diagnosing, understanding pathophysiological mechanisms, preventing, and treating chronic non-communicable diseases, inflammatory and allergic diseases, and other chronic health conditions. It also involves developing new techniques, protocols, and products for this purpose.

IV – Public Health
Addresses policies, social conditions, and health. The objective is to analyze health policies and the health and disease processes related to social conditions and ways of life, contributing to the formulation and reorientation of regional public policies.

Target Audience

a) Health professionals interested in developing basic and clinical research in various areas of health and in training qualified human resources for teaching at a higher education level, research, and meeting the professional demand of the public and private sectors.
b) The target audience must hold a diploma in a higher education course.
